What Sort of Education Do I Need?

Formal education up to 18 years, or Year 13, is a minimum requirement.  You will need to be comfortable with reading for information and making sense of a wide range of different styles of written communication.  Some of our texts are early nineteenth century and need close reading as the grammar and vocabulary can be demanding.  Listening and note taking, researching on your own and following home assignments are all expected.  We ensure that your study skills are updated and facilitate your return to study if you have had a long gap.

We are experienced in assessing your education and experience to date.  We support your learning throughout the course.

For applicants it is important to note that we put more emphasis on your life experience than on qualifications.  If you have A levels or equivalent, especially in a humanity and an open curious mind we are happy to discuss the content of our course.  Most applicants have some area of study that they need to discuss – yours maybe the human sciences, or the note-taking skill, whatever your own needs we have an excellent track record in enabling and supporting adult and returning learners.   We are keen to hear from applicants who may not have completed formal education but have shown capability and responsibility in other areas, e.g. raising a family!
