What sort of students are we looking for?
At least some of the following will stand you in good stead to accomplish the journey to practitioner.
Motivation
Open-mindedness
Enthusiasm
Willingness to develop
To express yourself and contribute to college life
Commitment to achieving professional standards
We do ask for an appropriate intention to join this profession, its codes of conduct and ethics.
Attendance
Academic weekends are two full days approximately once a month, for ten months of the year, September to June, for 4 years. You are expected to attend at least 80%.
Home Study
This varies from individual to individual and peaks and troughs throughout the programme. As an average, expect to need 12-20 hours per week for guided study and assignments. Some students choose to complete the 4 years of the academic course before starting their supervised case practice, taking a further year or more to do this. This reduces the hours per week in the last year, but extends the duration.
Resources
Primarily this boils down to fees and a place and time to study. As well as annual fees, money is needed for books and clinic fees from year 2. A computer is an asset for producing word processed assignments but is not necessary initially. However as you progress in the duration of the course you will find that it is necessary.
Language
To be accepted on the course, you must have fluency in oral and written english language.
